Hawthorne School District’s Review Board 14 was named a 2024 Model School Attendance Review Board by State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond.

Three teachers from the Hawthorne School District were honored at the Southwest SELPA Awards for their contributions to the growth of students with special needs. The ceremony featured a Bud Carson Middle School student speaker and student-led audio-visual team, who filmed and photographed the event.

Congresswoman Maxine Waters, members of the HSD Board of Trustees, and state and county representatives attended the Maxine Waters Health and Dignity Center ribbon-cutting ceremony and community celebration. The event was held in partnership with Venice Family Clinic to honor the new health services that are being provided to HSD students at the York School clinic.
